Strange Combo

I started my musical life at my 6th birthday on the music
school "Albert Smeijers" as also at
the Harmony St. Caecilia and I am still musician there on
the baritone saxophone.
My father also played saxophone and that's one of the
reasons I like this instrument very much.
Beside the saxophone, I 'm playing drums and guitar and i
sing a lot. Sinds 1979 I played at different bands like:
't Harmonieke (carnival), Orkest '79 (soulrockband),
Langstraat (bigband),
De Tempeliers (choir drummer), Rowdy school rock band
(as drummer).
The South, southern rock and blues band, as (drummer /
singer) Die Alpenfreunde playing saxophone and also
drummer. Big Tower band (saxophone), Power (party
band) altosaxophone and guitar. Silver Stars (as drummer),
5 Takt (Coverband) saxophone.
In 1993 I started the band Strange Combo (Polka /Texmex)
with some friends as a singer, playing saxophone and
guitar.
I like different styles of music (Sometimes it's a problem!?)
But I always play with great pleasure.

Jeroen van Meggelen

I am from the beginning the accordion player in this band.
When I was 11 years old my father asked me to choose if I
would learn to play keyboard or accordion.
My choice was the accordion .
The Snowwals was at that time the only song that I
perfectly played.
After the first song I followed classical lessons by Jan en
Dorien Heuer. They are great accordion-players in Holland.
The music was before and after my study always my great
hobby
and I play now for more then 22 years on this beautiful
instrument.
I played thru all the years in several bands but in 1993,
I met some music-friends and started Strange Combo with
music of Rowwen Heze, Texas Tornados
and our idols from Denton Texas USA "BRAVE COMBO"
Beside the accordion I play trumpet in the band 't
Harmonieke and I try to follow guitar lessons to play at the
campfire.
The music is a fine hobby.

Eddy van Geel

I was born in Terheijden (a small village in the south of
Holland) in the year 1948 and I also play the Trumpet for a
very long time.
I played in the next bands during several years.
1963-1969 Brass band St. Ceacilia, Brass band Terheijden,
The Bloaskaffers - Made
1969-1972 Stramoko's show band, very famous in the
south of Holland
1972-1978 Vader Abraham Show band, we have played in
Holland en Belgium with the famous person Vader Abraham
1979-1988 The Bloaskaffers Brass band
1982-1988 Big Tower Band (swing band)
1984-1998 KaKaFonie, brass quintet from the school of
music called Albert Smeijers
1987-1997 Power, a small brass band from Brass band
St. Ceacilia
1982-untill now Brass band St. Ceacilia
1970-untill now Brass band Family van Geel, a brass band
consisting of sisters, brothers cousins and nieces with the
familyname "van Geel" so only familymembers play music
in this band.
2002-untill now Strange Combo

I'm married with Ineke who is playing flute in the family
brass band.
We have two daughters, Gwen who's playing horn and
Joyce who's playing clarinet.
Joyce sings also at the band Inferno and she does the
backing vocals at the top 100 session band.

So music is always in our blood.
A day without music is a day without fun .

Tom Goverde

I'm playing the Bass guitar and the Es bass in the band
Strange Combo.
I started also at the Brass band St. Caecilia in the year of
1977 on the valve trombone and after a while I played the
slide trombone.
In that same year I became a member of the brass band 't
Harmonieke. After a few years I decided to choose an
other instrument named the Bass or (Es bass)
From 1990 I played the bass guitar at the formation
Power. The band broke up and with some friends we
started a new group named "Strange Combo".
These days I'm still playing slide trombone in the brass
band 't Harmonieke and I give my breath every week at
the Brass band St. Caecilia.
I hope you can keep it sharp, with all these information.

Outside the music I run my own company in Mobile
Elevated Working Platforms, which you can lease.

Adrie l'Abée

In 2006 I joined this band.
I 'm playing solo guitar, acoustic guitar and I do some
vocals.
The guitar is my favourite instrument and I play it almost
every day.
I got my first guitar on my 8th birthday.
From 1974 until now I played in the next bands:
Travelin band - Moonlight - John and his Comets -
Wortel Negen - Tabasco Road and now Strange Combo.
In 2005 I won the first prize (SCPO Award) as best
musician on the guitar.
After playing in the band I like to work at home in my own
home studio making music and also making and editing
Films and DVD's.
I'm the webmaster for the band because I'm not so busy
as my music colleagues.
They sometimes play in 4 or 5 different bands.
I 'm married with Gummara and we have 2 daughters,
2 sons-in-law and a grandson named Justin.
I hope to see you soon during a performance of Strange
Combo.

Ronald van de Waarsenburg,

is making the sound of the band and is responsible for
the technique.
He is going always with the band on every performance.

He is also a musician cause he is playing trumpet as a
session musician in an other band named "5-takt"

So he knows how important sound is.

After Strange Combo and 5-takt, he is playing in the
brass band "de Bloaskaffers".
We are happy to have Ronald as a 7th member of
Strange Combo.

Ronald is married with Gwen, who is the daughter of
Eddy van Geel.

So music plays a very big roll in there lives.

Music came into my life when I was 8 years old.
First I started at the drum band "M.V.C. Udenhout".
At the late sixties I was a member of the local harmony
and the brass band.
Since 1971 I started as drummer at the choir of young
people, which I have done for more then 18 years.
At that same time I was also drummer in an other band
and after two years I moved to the band "SAERCHES"
The next band was in 1975 "THE NEW FIVE" and we
have played in Holland and Belgium with the famous
John Spencer and a female singer named Nelleke.
In the year 1981 Adrie l'Abée ask me to come over at the
band "MOONLIGHT"
At the same period I was a member of a dixieland jazz
band named "THE CHALKMAIL JAZZBAND" as also
"M.V.C. harmony ASTERIUS" and still
the young people's choir.
I was very busy at that time because I was also giving
drum lessons to young students.
Since 1984 I do the bookings for my other band
"MOONLIGHT" and this band is also very successful
and is still going strong.

Since 2008 I play the drums and percussion in the band
Strange Combo which I do with a lot of pleasure.
